As the Director of Care, you’ll be responsible for planning, coordination, supervision and evaluation of all clinical resources, services, and programs at our Smith Creek Village in West Kelowna. What You’ll Do

As Director of Care, you will lead a compassionate and skilled clinical team to provide high-quality, person-centered care that promotes resident autonomy, dignity, and wellness. Your leadership will shape care delivery, ensure regulatory compliance, and inspire a culture of collaboration and excellence across the community. 
  • In consultation with the Administrator, responsible for the day-to-day coordination, supervision and future development of all clinical programs  
  • Ensures clinical programs respond to the physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs of residents using person-centered Wellness Framework and normalized living approach and the resulting environment supports and respects resident autonomy, independence, dignity and privacy
  • Provide leadership and direction in all aspects of resident care, including planning, development, implementation and evaluation of department goals, systems, programs, policies and procedures
  • Contributes to organizational strategic planning in collaboration with the Administrator, contracted care partner and clinical practice team
  • Participates in monitoring quality of resident care and quality improvement initiatives
  • Participates in the accreditation process
  • Consults with Baptist Housing clinical team regarding identified best practice areas and education required to meet future plans and directions
  • Provides administrative support in the absence of the Administrator
  • Works closely with the Administrator and contracted care partner in strategic planning for staffing plans, service models, accreditation processes and regional process and policy alignment
  • Ensures standard of nursing practice comply with professional, legal and organizational requirements
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates documentation and reporting systems to maintain accurate records and communication within the resident care department
  • Anticipates long term situations/circumstances and, in collaboration with the Administrator, develops and implements plans to respond to these
  • Provides on call support
  • Mentor and support team members through recruitment, training, performance management, and ongoing development. 
  • Conducts probationary and annual performance appraisals of assigned team members
  • Foster strong partnerships with families, health authorities, contracted service providers, and community stakeholders. 
  • Serve as a key resource in emergency preparedness, safety protocols, and health & safety compliance 

What You Bring

Education & Experience

Graduate of a recognized school of nursing
  • Current registration in good standing with BCCNM
  • Preference to those with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or degree in Health Care Administration
  • Coursework in Leadership and Management
  • Two years’ nursing experience in gerontology
  • Five years’ Health Care Management experience; or equivalent combinations of education and experience
 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, Microsoft Office applications, workforce management systems, and other technology platforms relevant to the role.
  • Uses technology and data effectively to support operational efficiency, reporting, compliance, and decision making

Compensation & Benefits

Our total compensation package includes:
  • Competitive salary with a hiring range of $100,000 – $130,000
  • Employer paid extended health and dental benefits
  • Generous vacation entitlement, with four weeks’ vacation to start
  • RRSP matching up to 7%
 

Work Location & Conditions

  • Kelowna, British Columbia
  • Office-based role
  • Occasional travel within British Columbia may be required
  • Standard weekday hours with moderate additional hours expected during peak periods
