We are seeking two Regional Managers, Maintenance to lead building operations across our communities; one supporting Long-Term Care (LTC) and the other supporting Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Seniors Rental Housing portfolios. 

In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure our buildings and infrastructure are safe, efficient, sustainable, and aligned with our mission. You will play a key role in advancing capital projects, sustainability initiatives, and maintenance excellence across the organization. 

About The Role 

As the Regional Manager, Maintenance, you are a servant leader who brings technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a passion for excellence in facilities management. You will lead maintenance operations across a diverse portfolio, ensuring optimal building performance while fostering strong relationships with teams, partners, and stakeholders. 

You will contribute to long-term capital planning, sustainability strategies, and operational standardization, helping Baptist Housing steward its resources effectively while enhancing the lives of the seniors we serve. 

Key Responsibilities 

Team and Operational Leadership

  • Lead maintenance operations across a portfolio of communities (LTC or AL/IL/Seniors Rental Housing). 
  • Supervise Maintenance Managers (LTC) and provide leadership to Maintenance Leads across other sites. 
  • Support hiring, performance management, and team development in collaboration with People & Culture. 
  • Conduct annual building assessments and recommend capital repairs and upgrades. 
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal leaders and external partners. 

Capital Planning and Asset Management

  • Support development and execution of capital plans and replacement reserve strategies. 
  • Manage relationships and negotiations with key partners such as BC Housing. 
  • Partner with leadership to align asset management strategies with organizational goals. 
  • Lead and implement large-scale capital projects across the portfolio. 

Sustainability and Innovation

  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce energy use, carbon footprint, and water consumption. 
  • Support organization-wide sustainability initiatives and partnerships (e.g., BC Hydro, FortisBC). 
  • Contribute to long-term environmental stewardship and green operations strategy. 
Financial and Contract Management
  • Develop and manage maintenance and operating budgets.
  • Oversee procurement, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations.
  • Monitor expenditures and approve maintenance costs over $5,000.
  • Ensure cost-effective purchasing and economies of scale across the organization.
Grants and Funding
  • Support securing capital grants from government and health authorities. 
  • Assist with procurement and implementation of funded projects. 
Health, Safety and Compliance
  • Promote and uphold a strong culture of workplace health and safety. 
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and safe work practices. 
  • Monitor contractor safety and address risks proactively. 
General Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices in facilities management. 
  • Oversee maintenance systems and support team training. 
  • Provide on-call support for maintenance-related issues as needed. 
  • Serve as an ambassador of Baptist Housing, modelling servant leadership and organizational values. 

Requirements 

Education & Certification 

  • Post-secondary education in engineering technology or a related field.
  • Red Seal trades certification (multi-trade preferred).
  • HVAC or plumbing certification considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Experience 

  • 5–7 years of experience leading maintenance operations across multiple buildings.
  • Experience in seniors living, healthcare, or similar environments preferred.
  • Proven success leading teams, including managers (strongly preferred).
  • Experience managing capital and maintenance budgets up to $1M.
Skills & Competencies 
  • Strong leadership rooted in servant leadership principles.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Experience in sustainability initiatives and facilities optimization.
  • Financial acumen with budgeting, forecasting, and contract negotiation skills.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and maintenance systems.
