As the Companion Care Outreach Worker, you will play a critical role in building connections with community groups and agencies to recruit and onboard volunteers for the Baptist Housing Companion Care Program. Your efforts will ensure seniors at our Evergreen Campus of Care in White Rock receive personalized support to combat loneliness, illness, disability, and other challenges of aging.
About The Role
The Companion Care Outreach Worker is a vital position at Baptist Housing, focused on fostering community partnerships and supporting the Companion Care Program, a dedicated initiative in 2025 to provide companionship to seniors. Working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator, you will develop outreach strategies, create presentation materials, draft processes, and build relationships with local organizations to recruit volunteers for this meaningful program. This role will also support the expansion of the partnership model to Baptist Housing’s seniors’ residences across British Columbia.
In this role, you will collaborate with team members to identify resident needs, establish networks with community organizations, and develop materials to support volunteer recruitment and training. You will also maintain documentation, collect data, and provide updates to ensure the program’s success.
This is a temporary, full-time position for 8 weeks, with a commitment of 35 hours per week at an hourly rate of $18.00.
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach and Partnership Development:
Identify and map connections between local community-based organizations, societies, and Baptist Housing’s seniors’ care mandate.
Establish a network of relationships with community groups, cultural societies, and individuals interested in engaging with residents through the Companion Care Program.
Assist in planning, drafting, and organizing information sessions for potential volunteer candidates.
Program Support and Development:
Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator, Recreation Manager, Chaplains, Administrators, and other team members to identify resident needs related to aging, terminal illness, and end-of-life care.
Develop community outreach, orientation, and training materials addressing emotional, spiritual, physical, and social needs to support residents’ journeys.
Visit residents and collaborate with team members to inform them about Companion Care services and programs.
Administrative and Reporting Duties:
Maintain daily documentation, statistical data collection, and reporting on community outreach activities and program progress.
Attend regular meetings and provide written updates to management and the project team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Be between the ages of 15–30 years at the start of employment.
Have completed or be in the process of completing a degree in business, health, or social sciences.
1–2 years of experience working in a senior setting is a definite asset.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and digital tools for communication and data collection.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse community members and present information effectively.
Sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of its impact on community dynamics and interactions.
Effective organizational and time management skills to plan, follow up, and execute community initiatives.
A deep commitment to seniors’ community development and a passion for making an impact on their lives.
Ability to exercise good judgment, work independently, and collaborate as part of a dynamic team.
Experience in developing innovative approaches to consultation, including in-person, online, and through social media.
Proven track record of responsiveness and meeting deadlines.
Valid BC Driver’s License with a safe driving history.
Consent for a Criminal Record Check for working with Vulnerable Adults is required.

Compensation & Benefits
In this temporary position, we offer a competitive hourly wage of $18.00 for 35 hours per week over 8 weeks. As a member of the Baptist Housing team, you will work in a supportive environment where your contributions are valued and recognized.
