As a member of our team, you can experience a fulfilling career while working in a collaborative environment where support for you is prioritized.  We’re currently seeking a mission-driven Occupational/Physiotherapist to join our Kelowna team and help residents maintain their independence, safety, and well-being through proactive assessments, therapy programs, and collaborative care. 

About The Role 

This part-time role offers four days a week with an 8 am – 4:00 pm schedule 

As an Occupational/Physiotherapist at Baptist Housing, you will play a key role in fostering a culture of wellness, dignity, and person-directed care. You’ll work with residents, families, and team members to assess physical and functional needs, recommend equipment and safety strategies, and promote an environment of independence and managed risk. You’ll also help reduce workplace injuries by supporting team training and participating in health and safety initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct assessments and provide therapy programs to residents 
  • Recommend mobility supports and safety equipment 
  • Offer guidance to residents and families regarding equipment rentals or purchases 
  • Supervise and evaluate the Rehabilitation Assistant 
  • Support safe work practices and injury prevention programs for team members 
  • Participating in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) initiatives and meetings 
  • Deliver in-services on musculoskeletal injury prevention 
  • Foster ergonomic best practices in workspaces and resident environments 
  • Collaborate with external partners (e.g., DVA, WCB, funding agencies) 
  • Support residents' autonomy through managed risk planning 
  • Actively model Baptist Housing’s values and servant leadership culture 

Requirements 

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy or Bachelors with relevant grandfathering of education. 
  • Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia 
  • Experience in gerontological rehabilitation and/or long-term care 
  • Knowledge of assistive equipment, documentation standards, and cognitive impairment (e.g., dementia) 
  • Proficiency with computerized health record systems 
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills 
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate a Rehabilitation Assistant 
  • Familiarity with managed risk frameworks and person-directed care 
  • Physically able to meet the demands of the role (e.g., lifting, bending)

Compensation & Benefits 

This is a unionized position under the Health Sciences Association (HSA). The hourly wage ranges from $42.56 to $52.95, and includes participation in the Municipal Pension Plan.
